Sizes & Prices
Weddings....What size cake do you need?
Comparing prices of wedding cakes can be very confusing. The chart below should help you.
(Please note that sometimes caterers will insist that you let them provide the cake. Check this in advance. If they do allow someone else to provide the cake, they may add a per sliice charge for cutting and serving the cake, and you need to know what that charge would be. Would their "per slice" charge be the same as the one that I use?)
All of the Upper Crust Cakes are about 3 ½ " inches high. (Cakes much higher, especially over 4", do not fit on a plate nicely.)
The following sizes are available:
6" 7" 8" 9" 10" 11" 12" 14" 16"
When selecting cake sizes, consider the look you want to create. Do you want a vertical tower look? Then choose tiers with two inches difference, like 6-8-10
Do you want a wide step for flowers? Then choose cakes with a 4" difference. (That leaves you 2" around the edge.)
Are you going to eat the top or use it up? It still needs to be included when figuring your cost. I base my "per slice" charge on the Best column, regardless of the number of slices you will cut from it.
Size Best Range Note: the number of cuts is determined by the height of the cake, the size of the slice,
how it is cut, and who is doing the cutting. Below are the number of slices per
cake found on other web sites and books.

PRICING:
Wedding cakes take more time, and this is reflected in the price. The base price is $1.75 per slice, as based on the number given in the yellow column above. The more complex cake, or the one with more expensive ingredients, will cost more.
